Glen Haubold - GHaubold Consuting
After attending his first APPA event in 1983 in San Antonio, Texas, Glen Haubold worked in facilities management for Texas Christian University, Texas Women’s University, and the University of North Texas before retiring in 2019 as the Associate Vice President for Facilities and Services for the New Mexico State University System. Haubold is currently the Principal at GHaubold Consulting and a Partner at FM Excel, has completed staffing studies for the University of Idaho, Texas State University, and Collin College, and is an editor for the APPA Advisors and the APPA Body of Knowledge. Mr. Haubold has presented at APPA, CAPPA, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers conferences (NACUBO), and is a Qualified APPA Supervisor’s Toolkit trainer. New Mexico State University won the APPA Award for Excellence in 2016.

Abstract

In this day of Covid, budget reductions, and increased work with scarce resources, it is easy to overlook the basics while looking for shortcuts. Coaching great Vince Lombardi said, “You don’t do things right once in a while…you do them right all the time.” This session will talk about how to return to the basics to achieve organizational excellence.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand how embarking on the road to organizational excellence will be sustainable and provide a return on investment;
  2. Discuss the benefits of organizational performance measures; and
  3. Hear about methods to market the effort to those above and below in the organization.

John Burke is the Director of Facilities Services for the University of Houston Victoria. John has been in the Facilities Services field for over 30 years. Getting his formal education for the United States Air Force Civil Engineering technical school in HVAC and Bachelor's of Science from Texas A&M Kingsville. John is a TAPPA member and holds a Director spot on the Board of Directors with TAPPA.

Panelists:

John Randtke is the Mechanical Design Engineering Lead for Schneider Electric’s Federal Performance Contracting and Microgrid teams. He has overseen the design of HVAC system retrofits in K-12 schools, universities, laboratories, hospitals, and a wide variety of government facilities. John is based in Kansas City, but support projects throughout the country and internationally.

Melissa Howard is an Account Manager with Trane and was previously Senior Vice President of Brandt. Melissa has a BSME from Southern Methodist University. In her spare time, she enjoys her dogs, gardening, and swimming.

Tony Finch has been in the commercial HVAC industry for over 20 years and has been a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas since 2012. Previously, he served as President of ASHRAE’s Fort Worth chapter from 2013-2014. Tony graduated Magna Cum Laude from UT Arlington with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Currently, Tony is the Fort Worth Sales Manager of Texas AirSystems, where he has held various management and sales roles since 1999.
